About Stella

A writer, artist, and intuitive bodyworker, Stella practice remotely and in person in Wakefield, RI and San Mateo, Costa Rica. She is passionate about re-skilling medicine and teaches classes and offers group healing sessions in Resonant Attention.us

After earning a masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA, and accreditation through the National Certifying Committee for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Stella went on to study Esoteric Acupuncture with Mikio Sankey, Ph.D.; Ortho-Bionomy with Urusula Hofer and Christina Montes de Oca; Depth Hypnosis with Isa Gucciardi, Ph.D.; and Integrative Manual Therapy with Sharon Wiselfish-Giammatteo, Kris Albrecht, and Lissa Wheeler.

Her bodywork has also been informed by her own struggles with her health. Using natural therapies, she has healed from scoliosis, breast cancer, and autoimmune thyroiditis. You can find her account of her experiences at resonantattention.substack.com.

While in California, Stella changed her named from Laura Chamorro in an experiment that unexpectedly led to a spiritual awakening. She documented the experience for Spirituality & Health and Reality Sandwich. Her memoir about that time, Star Sister: How I Changed My Name, Grew Wings, and Learned to Trust Intuition, was published in 2012 by North Atlantic Books/Evolver Editions.

Previously, Stella worked in magazine publishing in New York City. She was an editor at both Bride’s and Condé Nast Traveler. Her freelance stories have appeared in Spirituality & Health, Reality Sandwich, Condé Nast Traveler, InStyle, Budget Living, Lucky, Travel & Leisure, Sacred Hoop and more. She also taught creative writing to teens for over fifteen years, with Connecticut’s Young People’s Institute, as well as with +Writing and Reading in Santa Fe. At the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts (NMAHA), she served as a Physiology/Pathophysiology instructor. In her spare time, she co-founded the Santa Fe Time Bank.

Of Colombian and Virginian heritage, Stella grew up in Rhode Island, and is married to the writer, Charles Eisenstein, with whom she has one son and three stepsons.
